Although the RUN box does not come pre loaded in the Windows Vista Operating System Start Menu, it is as easy as ever to manually run a program.
Step1
The easiest, fastest way to manually run a program is to use the Windows shortcut [windows key + r] to pull up the run box. (The windows key is located to the left of the space bar on your keyboard.

If you use the RUN feature with any regularity, you may want to pin it to the start menu for easier access. First, right click anywhere on the computer desktop’ s task bar. Select PROPERTIES from the pop up menu. Select the START MENU tab. Select CLASSIC START MENU.
Step3
Select the CUSTOMIZE button and then check the RUN box on the pop up CLASSIC START MENU. Hit OK. Change the CLASSIC START MENU back to START MENU. Hit APPLY and OK. You may have to restart your computer to finalize the procedure.
